Guide to JXN Football Season 2024
Football fans, rejoice! Jackson State University, Belhaven University, and Millsaps College are preparing to kick off three action-packed schedules this 2024 season.
Jackson State University
After a strong first season as head coach at JSU, T.C. Taylor aims to lead the Tigers to even greater success in 2024. In a highly competitive conference, 11 of 12 JSU games will now be broadcast live nationally—a testament, Taylor says, to the team's solid roster and passionate fan base. The Tigers will kick off their season on Aug. 29 at Louisiana-Monroe, followed by an exciting home opener against Lane College at the W.C. Gorden Classic in Jackson. Their five-game home schedule also includes key matchups like the Gulf Coast Challenge against Alabama A&M in Mobile on Oct. 5 and a showdown with SWAC East leader Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach on Oct. 26.

Belhaven University
New head coach CJ Nightingale, a former collegiate player and accomplished coach at the NCAA Division III and NAIA levels, brings a wealth of experience as he enters his first season with the Blazers. The team is coming off its most successful season in the program's 26-year history, finishing 2023 with a 9-1 record and securing its first USA South Conference title. Belhaven aims to defend its title and earn a spot in the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs for the second consecutive year, starting with the Riverside Rumble against Millsaps on Sept. 7 at The Bowl. USA South Conference play kicks off on Sept. 21, with the Blazers traveling to North Carolina to face Brevard College. Belhaven's first home conference game on Sept. 28 will also serve as Homecoming and Family Weekend, as they host North Carolina Wesleyan.

Millsaps College
The Millsaps football team aims for a strong 2024 finish, featuring 10 opponents and five home games under defensive innovator and new head coach Brandon Lechtenberg. The season opens with the Riverside Rumble against Belhaven on Sept. 5, followed by two more home games against John Melvin University and Bridgewater College. Southern Athletic Association play begins on Sept. 28 at Sewanee, with Millsaps' Homecoming set for Oct. 26 against Hendrix. The regular season concludes on Nov. 16 with a Senior Day matchup against Trinity in Jackson.
