Plan the Perfect Saturday in Jackson

Are you looking forward to a leisurely Saturday morning in Jackson? This itinerary will effortlessly help you plan and make the most of it.

Mississippi Farmer's Market

First stop: coffee. A few Jackson-owned favorites offer everything from locally brewed beans to tasty treats made in-house. Check out Native Coffee in Belhaven, Urban Foxes in Belhaven Heights, and Cups, The Bean, and Soulé in Fondren.

Once you're appropriately caffeinated, head to the Mississippi Farmers Market to grab grocery essentials—without going to the grocery store— for the week ahead (including local butter, eggs, and veggies), shop for various home goods, and pick up a plant or two.

When you've worked up an appetite, you're right around the corner from a delicious brunch at Elvie's. Located in the Belhaven neighborhood, Elvie's is an award-winning all-day cafe that 'serves seasonal fare highlighting Southern farmers.' Bruch is a busy time, so put your name on the list, scoot next door to Good Bar and Elvie's patio bar, and enjoy a beverage while you wait. Curious about other options? Manship, Sunflower Oven, BRAVO!, and Hal & Mal's also have excellent brunch offerings.

The Museum Trail featuring the Gavin Bird Mural “A Journey Through Jackson.”

After brunch, it's time to hit the Museum Trail. Take a stroll on the newly paved path connecting parks and museums and enjoy the sights and sounds while you digest. The Museum Trail is also home to the longest mural in Mississippi and public art by various Jacksonians.

It's time to take a break and get out of the sun. We can't think of a better way to cool off than by heading to Offbeat and checking out their new, reissued, and pre-loved vinyl selections. Not into vinyl? You can still cool off by book shopping at Lemuria or stopping by Beans & Bananas, both in Banner Hall.

Haven't scratched that shopping itch yet? Jackson has a great selection of thrift, antique, and consignment stores. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore, St. Luke's, The Real McCoy, Hunt, and Bloomingdeals are all excellent options if you're in the market for home furnishings, art, or decor items.
