Shop Like a Local: Your Guide to Jackson's Boutiques & Markets

In every stretch of the capital city, shopkeepers are cultivating commerce and creativity with their wares.

Here's a list of some of our favorite Jackson-centric spots you can't find anywhere else, for anyone on your shopping list.

Highland Village

LeFleur East

Don't miss locally-owned stores across the street at Highland Village like Buffalo Peak Outfitters, EK Home, and The Finery. Stop at Wolfe Studio down the street and immerse yourself in their enchanting cottage, where they produce famous Wolfe Bird figurines. At The District At Eastover, enjoy bites and sips from nearby restaurants before perusing local establishments like Chipper & Coco for pet products, Blithe & Vine for women's fashions, Nursery Rhymes for kids clothing, and City Center Drugs for Mississippi-made gifts. Canton Mart Square houses several woman-owned local businesses, including The Book Rack, View Gallery, and Latitudes. And for beautiful florals or picks for your green-thumbed friend, Green Oak is a must.

Fondren

Fondren is a vibrant hub of creativity and history, home to some of Jackson’s most cherished local shops. In North Fondren, purchase presents for others (or yourself) at Banner Hall, from books at the celebrated Lemuria Bookstore to stationery and housewarming gifts at Fresh Ink. Check back for two newcomers, including Jackson Chef Hunter Evans' Levure Bottle Shop and Belhaven-originated Beans & Bananas.

In the Fondren historic district, music lovers can explore new and gently used instruments or take lessons at Fondren Guitars, which hosts intimate, lively concerts on its back patio. The End of All Music offers a curated collection of new and timeless vinyl records, while The Beacon across the street is a one-stop shop for art supplies and unique goods. For home décor, check out Hunt The Shop, Holland & Williams, and Interiors Market, while Treehouse Boutique and Mozingo Clothiers have stylish selections for your wardrobe. Fondren Art Gallery & Framing showcases works from renowned and up-and-coming Mississippi artists, and Swell-O-Phonic and Conkrete Sneaker Boutique will get you outfitted head to toe.

Next door neighbor Thimblepress offers cards, stationery and gifts, created by local artist Kristen Ley. In the mood for thrifting? Some of the city's best treasure troves are found downtown at Old House Depot. Lastly, step back in time at the historic Marshall’s Music & Book Store, believed to be the nation’s oldest bookstore owned and operated by a Black family.
