Beagle Bagel Cafe - NOW OPEN

According to legend, Horace P. Belvedere was given a beagle puppy by his daddy when he was just a lad. The dog, brought from New York by a friend of Daddy Belvedere, would “only eat something called a bagel,” so Mama Belvedere – a “cooking virtuoso” – created a recipe for bagels using farm fresh ingredients and lots of love.

Pretty soon, folks from all over Mississippi knew all about Mrs. Belvedere’s “Beagle Bagels” and wanted to buy them, so in 1995, they opened their bagel shop offering delicious, home baked bagels in a dozen flavors and all the delicious toppings, spreads, and veggies they could think of.

Now, with locations in Madison, Jackson and Oxford, the deli menu includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and catering options and an assortment of bagel flavors like jalapeno cheddar, honey whole wheat, plain, cinnamon raisin, “everything,” asiago, chocolate chip, garlic, onion, sesame seed, sundried tomato, blueberry, seven grain, mozzarella focaccia, poppyseed, and sourdough.

Be sure to check out delectable breakfast offerings like the egg, meat and cheese breakfast bagel sandwich; sausage breakfast panini (or wrap); pancakes; grits; quiche; freshly baked muffins, cinnamon rolls, sticky buns and cream cheese Danish.

Lunch items include their famous chicken salad; strawberry salad; pimiento cheese; turkey, ham, roast beef, chicken, pastrami, Club, tuna, or veggie sandwiches (on a bagel, natch); hot sandwiches like the pizza bagel and a tuna melt; a full range of pressed panini sandwiches; daily soups; and of course, the full range of freshly baked bagels and cream cheese spreads. Sides are pasta salad, fruit, marinated veggies, and potato salad.

Don't forget dessert! Beagle Bagel also offers a rotating menu of whole cakes like strawberry, chocolate fudge, cheesecake, coconut brickle, turtle, carrot, red velvet, Italian Cream, German chocolate, and praline.
