With Everything in Between, Too: E-Zee Fish & Chicken

If you’ve driven southbound on State Street, just south of Northside Drive, chances are you’ve seen the orange building with the red and white sign where the old Primo’s used to be

I know, I’m dating myself and showing my Jacksonian (and Mississippi) roots with this one (since we typically give directions by converting distance in miles to minutes and landmarks).

At any rate, it’s hard to miss E-Zee Fish & Chicken at 4330 North State Street in North Fondren on your commute. The mostly take-out eatery offers just what the name says – and so much more.

Enjoy lamb, steak, oysters, shrimp, gyros, nachos or burgers. Did I mention they have a variety of fish offerings with nine different choices from red snapper to catfish to salmon?

At E-Zee Fish & Chicken, they have the consistency factor down to a science. You may find yourself a bit overwhelmed by the menu selections as there are many to choose from. If the poster-sized photos of featured dishes and specials aren’t enough, there’s also a large wall sign with detailed menu offerings.

Although it seemed to be a one-stop-shop for any of my short order foodie needs, I went traditional and ordered the six-wing dinner for $9.99. It comes with six whole fried chicken wings and a plate of fries.

Every order is cooked to order. This is the only way a southerner is to eat chicken – hot and fresh. The wings were well-seasoned and the coating was crispy and crunchy. The fries were fresh and plentiful, too. There’s a signature seasoning they used as a finishing touch for both the chicken and the fries. Next time, I’ll ask for some of that on the side to sneak onto some other meals. Did I mention I couldn’t eat it all in one sitting? What a steal for less than $10!

It was hard to settle on something as simple as chicken with a menu so expansive. But now that I’ve had the chicken and it was so good, I know everything else must be, too.

Next on the menu for me? One of those lamb plates or the toshka sandwich. No, maybe the gyro or the grilled fish. Do I have to really choose? There was so much I wanted to try and I look forward to going back very soon.
