Fondren Park

Fondren Park, formerly Cherokee Heights Park, is located at the corner of Dunbar Street and Northview Drive in West Fondren. For many years, the park provided a neighborhood green space with lots of room to play and mature tree for shade.

Fondren Renaissance Foundation, with support from the people of Fondren, the City of Jackson and Hinds County, received a $588,000 federal grant to renovate the City of Jackson park, which was deeded to FRF in order to facilitate the project.

In a ceremony in August of 2011, FRF deeded the park back to Jackson.

Fondren Park includes a quarter-mile rubberized walking trail, site lighting, water fountain, picnic/performance pavilion, playground equipment, playing field, park benches and picnic tables. In addition, a community garden is tended by neighbors in season.
