Poppy Pie Pizzas

Gray Welch and JeriAnna Shaw started Poppy Pies (named after their daughter) in 2022. It was originally a pop-up pizza concept featuring high-tech portable propane ovens, fast-cooking dough, and a few folding tables. Their fresh take on Neapolitan-style pizzas with interesting flavor combinations (such as their original creation, The Captain) and classics like pepperoni (cleverly named Poppyroni) turned out to be just what Jackson was missing.

After a warm reception to the food scene, and a full calendar of private events, Welch and Shaw quickly realized they were going to need to take their operation to the next level. Only 7 months after they began their venture, Poppy Pies were no longer being made in small portable ovens but a custom-made brick oven trailer from Fiero Group in Brewster, New York. Now able to handle higher demand, the popularity of Poppy grew even faster.

In October 2024, Poppy Pies officially took their operation indoors and opened their restaurant, located in the Belhaven Town Center across the hall from Fertile Ground Beer Co. They say they are excited to be in a permanent location in a neighborhood they love and add, “Our goal is to serve pizza without compromise. We are dedicated to our craft because we believe you deserve it.”
