In mid 2024, after finding his fine dining Italian restaurant, Pulito Osteria, thriving, Chaz Lindsay set his sights on his next venture—creating the kind of bar where he’d want to hang out with friends. Self proclaimed ‘big fan of dive bars’ Lindsay sums up Rowan’s succinctly: “Good burger, cold beer, cheap, affordable hangout spot. No pretension and all are welcome, as long as you mind your business.”

With the creative expertise of local designer Mary Sanders Ferriss (Ferriss & Co.) and inspiration from some of his favorite New York bars—Cafe Colette, Bandits, and Rocka Rolla, to name a few—Lindsay proudly opened Rowan’s in December of last year. Located in Belhaven Town Center, this inviting neighborhood bar offers an eclectic menu and a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere, making it a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike. “You can’t just *make* a dive bar, but you can plant a seed, and I think we have.”

Jackson native Lindsay spent most of his twenties honing his craft in New York, Italy, and Texas, before returning home to make his mark on the local culinary scene. With top-tier training from the Culinary Institute and experience working alongside industry legends, he quickly made a name for himself. In January 2023, he brought his vision to life with the opening of Pulito Osteria, a testament to his skill, passion, and dedication to exceptional dining. Lindsay notes, “At Pulito I have to stay in a certain lane, but here I can mess around and have a good time; we’re leaning more south of the border right now. It’s nice to be able to do whatever you want”

Rowan’s sits just across the street from Pulito, making it easy to spot Lindsay darting between the two most nights. Whether he’s checking in on the kitchen, greeting guests, or fine-tuning the atmosphere, he thrives in the energy of both spaces—busy, hands-on, and right where he wants to be. And yes, the math is right: Two restaurants in two years (almost to the day). Lindsay jokes, “I don't know what I was thinking!”

Lindsay is excited about all the possibilities Rowan's offers, currently testing out lunch (Tues - Sat), brunch (started in early February), and Sunday Roast service (first come, first served).

Grab your friends and swing by for a bologna sandwich or a Fripper’s Ripper hotdog with a cold beer while catching the game, or unwind with a round of shots and some pinball; whatever your reason, Lindsay hopes you’ll hang out a while.
