Overview
The Millsaps Players open their 101st season with Picnic by William Inge.
- Friday, November 8, 2024 - 7:30pm
- Saturday, November 9, 2024 - 7:30pm
- Sunday, November 10, 2024 - 2pm
It's Labor Day in a small Kansas town that looks and feels like Inge's own hometown of Independence, Kansas. It’s “warm even for September.” An attractive young man arrives with nothing but the clothes on his back and the boots on his feet, looking for a place to settle down. His intrusion into the static lives of these plains folk disrupts their end-of-summer revelries.
Picnic premiered on Broadway in 1953 and won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama the same year.
The play is directed by Millsaps faculty member and alumnus Samuel Sparks.
Millsaps alumnus Cody Stockstill, a professional scenic and projection designer, designed the scenery.
