Workshop and Screening with Lloyd Kaufman

Overview

The Mississippi Film Society is partnering with the Mississippi Film Office and University Press of Mississippi to host legendary independent film producer Lloyd Kaufman in Jackson to promote the release of the new book, Lloyd Kaufman: Interviews (which is part of the University Press’ Conversations With Filmmakers Series).

Events will kick off at 4:00 p.m. at the Capri Theatre in Fondren with one of Lloyd’s "Make Your Own Movie in 60 Minutes" workshops in which he discusses how to make an independent feature on your own terms with little to no budget. Lloyd brings decades’ worth of experience to the conversation as his company, Troma Pictures, is one of the longest running production companies in the businesses.

Following the workshop, he (and editor Mathew Klickstein) will be around to sign copies of his books, and we’ve heard that he might be bringing some costumes from The Toxic Avenger for photo ops too. We’ll screen The Toxic Avenger at 7:00 p.m. and follow that up with a conversation and Q&A with Lloyd about the original film, anything he can share with us about the upcoming remake, and his career.
