Visit Mississippi Unveils 2025 Rose Parade Float, Celebrating the Birthplace of America's Music and Honoring Mississippi’s Legendary Kings

Visit Mississippi proudly unveils its float design for the 136th Rose Parade presented by Honda, taking place Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in Pasadena, California. The float will showcase the state’s rich heritage as the Birthplace of America’s Music, paying tribute to two legendary Mississippi artists who reshaped the music world: Elvis Presley, the King of Rock & Roll, and B.B. King, the King of the Blues. 2025 marks milestone anniversaries for both – the 90th and 100th birthdays of Presley and King, respectively – making this an ideal time to celebrate their part in the state’s enduring cultural legacy.

“Mississippi’s contribution to American culture and music is unparalleled, and being part of the Rose Parade offers a unique opportunity to showcase that heritage to the 850,000 parade attendees and millions of viewers around the country and beyond,” said Governor Tate Reeves. “This float not only celebrates the musical legacy of Elvis Presley and B.B. King but also honors Mississippi’s role in shaping America’s history and sound."

In alignment with the 2025 parade theme, “Best Day Ever,” the float will guide viewers on a visual journey through a vibrant tapestry of Mississippi sites, highlighting the state’s contributions to American music and cultural history. This year is the first time Visit Mississippi, the official destination marketing organization of the state, is participating in the event.

The float showcases iconic landmarks of the Mississippi Blues and Country Music Trails across the state – from Tupelo and Indianola to Jackson and Coastal Mississippi. Adorned with musical notes, instruments and Magnolia blossoms, the parade will also feature performances by three musical acts that embody Mississippi’s dynamic music scene. The performers include award-winning Elvis tribute artist Brandon Bennett, country trio Chapel Hart, and Jackson State University’s renowned marching band, Sonic Boom of the South.

In addition to appearing in the parade, Visit Mississippi will also engage in a range of official Rose Parade events, including Floatfest and float-making days, engaging with parade attendees, appearing on local media programs and meeting with national media as part of the Rose Parade program.
