Visit Jackson Honored With ICON Award by Jackson Indie Music Week

The soul of Jackson's music scene celebrated its own with a prestigious nod from the 9th annual Jackson Indie Music Week (JIMWEEK).
This year's coveted ICON Awards spotlighted four partners and supporters of Jackson's musical legacy: Visit Jackson, The Central Mississippi Blues Society, Visit Mississippi and legendary radio personality "Big Baby" Alice Marie.
This year's honorees represent the diverse tapestry that makes Jackson's music scene sing.
- Visit Jackson: Championing the city's vibrant culture and bustling music scene, Visit Jackson has become a cornerstone for independent artists and music lovers. From intimate gigs in hidden local gems to bustling festivals, their dedication to showcasing the city's musical spirit knows no bounds.
- The Central Mississippi Blues Society: Keepers of the flame of Mississippi's blues heritage, the Central Mississippi Blues Society has nurtured generations of blues musicians and ensured the legacy of this iconic genre resonates through the streets of Jackson.
- Visit Mississippi: Dedicated to promoting the entire state as a musical destination, Visit MS amplifies the voices of independent artists across Mississippi, ensuring Jackson's rhythm reaches every corner of the state.
- "Big Baby" Alice Marie: A Jackson radio legend for over 40 years, "Big Baby" Alice Marie has provided a platform for countless independent artists. Her infectious energy and unwavering support make her a beloved icon in the community.

Past Icon Award recipients include blue legends Bobby Rush and Dorothy Moore, entertainment attorney Mike Frascogna, noted DJ Aziatikk Blakk, and rappers Reese & Bigalow, who recently received a gold plaque for their contribution to Duke & Jones & Louis Theroux's viral song "Jiggle Jiggle."

Held at Duling Hall and hosted by The Vibe Controllers - twin brothers Cocky McFly and Merc B - also featured several independent artists, including local and regional bands.
JIMWEEK's ICON Awards recognize those who have significantly impacted the independent music scene in Jackson and beyond.
