Mississippi Included in the MICHELIN Guide American South, the First Regional Edition of the MICHELIN Guide in North America
April 2, 2025

Today, the MICHELIN Guide announced Mississippi’s inclusion as part of its first North American regional edition titled MICHELIN Guide American South. The full geographic scope of this new guide includes six states - Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee - in addition to the pre-existing Atlanta Guide. The MICHELIN Guide’s anonymous Inspectors are already in the field scouting the region’s culinary riches, which will be revealed later this year during the annual MICHELIN Guide Ceremony for the American South.
Visit Mississippi’s Director Rochelle Hicks expressed the destination’s enthusiasm for the opportunity by praising the connection between the state’s leading industries: agriculture and tourism.
“We are delighted to share Mississippi’s deep-rooted culinary traditions on a global scale. In Mississippi, the culinary journey begins with our farmers who till the rich lands of the Mississippi Delta and fishermen who source seafood from the Gulf, and result in dishes handcrafted by culinary artisans who celebrate the flavors of these homegrown ingredients,” explained Hicks. “Our chefs showcase their passion and creativity daily, making our state a top destination for anyone seeking exceptional cuisine and the genuine charm of Southern hospitality.”
Hicks continued, “From the rolling Hill Country of Oxford to the soulful capital of Jackson and the charm of Coastal Mississippi, a new generation of culinary artisans is redefining the state’s legendary cuisine with modern innovation on traditional southern fare.”
