Saltine Celebrating Ten Years

Saltine, the modern oyster bar and restaurant in Fondren’s historic Duling School, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with special events August 2-11. The festivities will include new menu additions, unique cocktails and memorable dining experiences in honor of the milestone.

“Contributing to the vibrant food scene in Jackson is an experience we are so grateful for,” said David Conn, partner at 4Top Hospitality. “We are honored to be a part of a community that surrounds us with support, and we look forward to celebrating many more milestones to come.”

Food and Drink Specials Available August 2-9

Menu specials will include $1.50 Gulf oysters, a Mermaid Tears specialty cocktail, desserts from local bakery Just Vanilla Bake Shop and throwback menu items such as Feta Mozz, Grilled Chicken Avocado Club, ‘Bama BBQ Wood-Fired Oysters, Scallops and Risotto and Brunch Loaf. Guests can also imbibe on “Bring It Back” cocktails like the Anatilis Rum cocktail and a daily punch throughout the week.

Pairing Dinner with Fertile Ground Beer Co.

Saltine will partner with Fertile Ground Beer Co. for a pairing dinner at 6:30 p.m. on August 8. Seating is limited to 26 guests for this exclusive, four-course pairing dinner. Guests can expect a prix fixe menu featuring ceviche, fried oyster salad, filet medallions and scallops, along with a Clam & Pearl chocolate mousse dessert. Oyster Eating Contest

To conclude the festivities, a classic oyster eating contest will take place at Saltine on August 11 at 5 p.m. Contestants have 50 oysters each, and it will be a race to see who can finish all 50 oysters first in the allotted time. With a $35 entry fee, prizes are up for grabs for the top three finishers, including a coveted Saltine trophy, restaurant swag and gift cards. To register, visit Eventbrite.
