Thigpen Among Most Influential African Americans in MS

Dr. Rickey Thigpen, Visit Jackson’s President & CEO, has been selected as one of the most influential African Americans in the state of Mississippi for 2023-2024.

This honor recognizes true leaders in the state of Mississippi by Our Mississippi Magazine.

Thigpen was nominated and then selected by an independent panel of business and community leaders from across the state, along with 19 other dynamic leaders who were chosen from dozens of nominations received from the public and business community.

“Being recognized as one of the most influential African Americans in Mississippi by Our Mississippi Magazine is an incredible honor,” said Dr. Thigpen. “This acknowledgment reflects not only my personal dedication but also the collective efforts of the entire Visit Jackson team in advancing our community. This recognition fuels our passion to continue striving for excellence and making a meaningful impact in Mississippi and beyond."

An awards ceremony and reception will be held during the 10th annual Our Mississippi Magazine Gala held Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Cadence Bank Conference Center in Downtown Tupelo, Mississippi. This event is Mississippi’s largest celebration of diversity, equity & inclusion in the workplace. The guest speaker for the evening will be famed actor/activist Malik Yoba.
