Visit Jackson Earns DMAP Certification
March 4, 2021
Joining an elite group of just over 200 destination marketing organizations (DMOs) around the world, Visit Jackson has fulfilled the rigorous reaccreditation requirements, and the Board of Directors for the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) has voted unanimously to approve their application for ongoing accreditation.
Achieving this 4-year accreditation positions a destination organization as a valued and respected organization within its community and increases its credibility among stakeholders.
"We are honored that Visit Jackson's practices continue to be recognized as quality performance standards and industry best practices. And we are excited that our reaccreditation process results not only noted that our DMO met the evaluated criteria, but in some cases, exceeded requirements associated with the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program," said Rickey Thigpen, President and CEO of Visit Jackson.
The globally recognized DMAP seal serves as a visible industry distinction that defines quality and performance standards in destination marketing and its commitment to industry excellence and a desire to exceed the industry standard for performance and accountability of destination organizations worldwide.
Visit Jackson first received the DMAP seal in 2012 and was the first accredited DMO in Mississippi. The organization has since applied and obtained accreditation every four years since.
The accreditation program requires a destination organization to successfully meet various mandatory and voluntary standards that span over several performance areas, including marketing, sales, communications, destination development, finance, human resources, and research.
"We are pleased to have these organizations join our distinguished group of DMAP organizations," said Don Welsh, president and CEO of Destinations International. "The industry distinction defines quality and performance standards for destination organizations, and I look forward to welcoming them to the DMAP community."
DMAP is an independent global accreditation body and a leader in defining quality and performance issues in destination marketing.
